For the Holidays…

The Holidays are upon us, so to get into the spirit I was inspired to make a floral arrangement. I combined Holiday favourites such as pine and red berries with white tulips creating a festive trio using different vases. This arrangement makes a great centerpiece for your upcoming dinner party or dinner for two. See the “how to” instructional below…

One Blouse 5 Looks

My current favourite is this beige and black polka dot blouse; I’ve been over-wearing it all season. I love that I can wear this piece easily with just about anything; from super casual, to a night out, this blouse is a chameleon.

Muppet Mania

The Muppets movie comes out in theaters today and my inner child can’t wait! In the mean time, OPI has entertained my childhood nostalgia with their collection of Muppet themed nail polish. The colour palette is bright and filled with sparkle and glitz; just in time for the Holidays. With colours like “Meep-Meep-Meep”, “Warm & Fozzie” & “Animal-listic” you can’t help but get into the Muppet spirit of things. Check out some of the colours from the OPI collection and The Muppet movie trailer…

Bocata

Lately when dining out, I’ve had a preference for tapas style sharing plates. This way I can entertain my indecisive nature when it comes to choosing something off the menu, and sample a number of items. Bocata, really takes their passion for the culinary craft to the next level; from the ambiance, to the service, the experience was practically flawless.

The restaurant/wine bar is located in my favourite part of Québec: Old Montreal. The space is lit by candles and gothic wrought iron chandeliers, creating an ultra romantic setting. Vintage books line walls & a chalk board lists the specialty wine selection for sampling by the glass. Our server (also the restaurant’s sommelier) paired our wine selections to our sharing plates, to best suit our preferences. The results were above my expectations; the food was excellent and wine was some of the best I’ve ever tasted (not an over statement). If you’re visiting Old Montreal, I highly recommend checking out Bocata.

La Vita è Bella

Planning and organizing dinner parties & events is something I’ve always enjoyed doing. I truly love creating special moments for my family and friends; but I most enjoy seeing everyone having a great time. I have to give credit to my lovely mother, whom has effortlessly thrown countless dinner parties over the years – she has taught me more than a thing or two.

For the birthday of a good friend of mine, I thought it would be fun to create an Italian inspired evening for her special day. Much like in Italian culture, the emphasis was placed on great food and the company of friends. The Italian flag provided the colour scheme for the décor. Splashes of green, white, & red were added throughout; even the cupcake icing was to match. The addition of cute Italian phrases to the décor elements, was a final touch to set the mood. Cin cin!
