Pantone 2013 Colour of the Year

The 2013 Pantone colour of the year is emerald green. The colour green represents nature and tends to have a calming tranquil effect. This fresh shade of emerald green can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe or home decor.

Bold & Bright

Colour blocking is everywhere in fashion and decor; finding which colour combinations work for your style is key. To achieve this look, group complimentary colours together and make bold statement. Colour blocking is a great way to showcase all the beautiful hues of summer.

Pastel Parfait

Pastels are everywhere this season, in an array of ice cream parlour tints. Create a fresh and cheerful palette by combining two or three coordinating pastel colours, or add a tint to your outfit or home decor to soften the look.

Moustaches & Sparkle Lips

I recently hosted a party that was adorned with a moustache & lip theme. I added little motifs and kept a black, white, and red colour scheme. The food was simple with a combination of sweet & savory snacks for everyone. A big hit at the party were the different shaped moustache and sparkle lip dowels. I set-up a photo area for all the guests to take pictures throughout the night. Everyone was more than willing to ham-it-up for the camera.

Appetizers

See the recipe for the fig & walnut crostini with goat cheese – HERE.

Moustache & Lip Dowels

The moustache & sparkle lip dowels were simply cut out from coloured foam sheets.
I used a glue gun to attach the dowels; click HERE for a printable template to create your own.

Hyper – Real Brights

Neon has a special place in my heart; perhaps because I was a child of the 80s. I’ve always been drawn to colours that resemble highlighters. This is definitely one of my favourite colour trends for 2012; in small doses neon can be a great accent to your style, even at home.

Florals & Stripes

The lines between fashion and décor have been blurred; what’s hot in fashion is also on trend when decorating. I wanted to feature a series of my favourite 2012 trends in design. First up, mixing florals and stripes; not for the timid but a great way to add drama to your look or home décor. Stay tuned for next Monday’s design trend feature…
