Bicycles Vineyards

This past long weekend was filled with gorgeous weather and wine tours in Niagara on the Lake. Considering the great weather, touring from winery to winery via a bicycle made for the perfect day. It became less about the wine and more about being outside, enjoying the scenery.

Icewine Touring

This past weekend I attended the Niagara Icewine Festival, which is running from now until January 29th. We visited six different wineries and sampled a variety of icewines (Riesling, Vidal & Cabernet Franc) with some delicious pairings. From the antipasto to the dessert pairings, the overall experience at the family owned Colaneri Estate Winery was captured perfectly through taste and design. Creekside Estate Winery brought a pairing of roasted butternut squash bisque with chestnuts & smoked bacon compote. The final stop of the tour, and the most entertaining part of my day, was at Peller Estates Winery; roasting icewine infused gourmet marshmallows (courtesy of Chef Parsons’) over an open fire.

This is the beautiful Italian villa inspired Colaneri Estate Winery.

It was really cold outside but roasting marshmallows over the fire at Peller Estates kept us warm.
