Toronto Fashion Week

Lucian Matis

I attended the Lucian Matis Fall/Winter 2012 show Monday night, held in the ballroom of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel; its elegance reflected the baroque glamour of the clothes, and thankfully, devoid of over-the-top chaos typical to a tent.

The collection was a celebration of nature’s art in symmetry, interpreted in high glam black lace, embroidery, voluminous feathers, and knits. A more sophisticated & mature collection for Matis than in previous seasons; his attention to detail has clearly evolved. Here are shots of the gorgeous collection through the Poised Petal lens.

The Glam Cam

Toronto LG Fashion Week – Spring 2012 came to a close this Friday night with Denis Gagnon, whom did
not disappoint! His whimsical French aesthetic was cheerful and full of detail. Here are my favourite shots
from the week, and the trends to look out for this summer.

Sails & Stripes

Where clothes are concerned, women have many a more options to choose from versus our counterparts. Men have to work a little harder and be more resourceful when it comes to finding clothing that’s not only stylish but also reflective of their personality. Bustle clothing creators Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow offer menswear classics that seriously up the style quotient. Their spring 2012 showing last night did not disappoint; with a clearly nautical feel the clothing was crisp, fresh, and impeccably styled. Guys & gals take note and get inspired…

Pink Tartan

Day three of LG Fashion Week was probably the most hectic thus far; the place was busting at the seams. Kimberly Newport-Mimran (wife of Joe Fresh’s Joesph Mimran) presented a refreshing, wearable collection for Pink Tartan spring 2012. The runway was filled with bold colour and ultra fresh florals & stripes. Here are some highlights…

Attitude

Jay Manuel has teamed up with Sears Canada to act as the creative director for Attitude; their private label collection. He is best known for acting as creative director on America’s Next Top Model and for hosting Canada’s Next Top Model. The debut of his spring 2012 collection at Toronto Fashion Week was fun and full of life. Manuel delivered total 70s chic, with light & airy blouses, flared trousers, and chunky heels. I loved the turban style scarves!
